Jilin police recently announced a cracked case of large-scale national gun and ammunition trafficking, arresting 116 suspects, seizing 50 kinds of guns, more than 10,000 rounds of ammunition, smashing a processing plant that illegally manufactured gun barrels.
In August 2017, the Public Security Bureau of Wangqing County, Jilin Province, received a report that someone had forwarded a gun sale advertisement in the circle of friends, and the police immediately launched a tracing.
Gao Feng, deputy director of Wangqing County Public Security Bureau: The characteristic of this case is that it is very difficult to determine their real identity and address by trading with each other through the virtual name on the network.
Earlier this year, police in charge of a case locked a suspect Luan Mou who was selling guns. In order to avoid disturbing his family, the police did not immediately arrest him.
Han Jixin, a police officer in the Criminal Police Brigade of Wangqing County Public Security Bureau, said that almost no top gun vendors sell guns directly to buyers through layers of middlemen.
Subsequently, the police, through Luan Mou, locked up four other suspects involved in gun trafficking. In February this year, they were captured in Jilin, Zhejiang and other places, and in the home of one of them, they seized three air guns and 54 control knives.
Gao Feng, deputy director of Wangqing County Public Security Bureau: Through their account, we found that the network is very large, involving a lot of people, involving many provinces throughout the country. They are all made up of one person who sells a single component. Different mails are sent to one person who makes up a gun and then sells it.
Using transnational camouflage parcel to smuggle guns and ammunition
The police then set up a joint task force. Through multiple investigations in Anhui, Sichuan and Guangxi, in May this year, a criminal network of smuggling guns and ammunition from a European country to China was discovered by mail.
After investigation, the police found that Jiang Mou, who lives in a European country, formed a Wechat group as the group leader. He often publishes information to solicit agents in the group. On the surface, he sells hardware accessories. In fact, he is selling foreign original guns and ammunition.
Gao Feng, deputy director of Wangqing County Public Security Bureau: When he sells guns to China, he claims that he has plenty of goods. Every time he delivers them to China, he sends the courier number to his circle of friends. But these circles of friends have camouflage. The key part is that he plays mosaic.
According to the investigation, there are 302 members of the Wechat Group. The members not only smuggle guns and ammunition from the group owners, but also trade horizontally with each other. After investigating these incomplete express messages, the police tracked down an international package to Shaanxi.
Wang Qing County Public Security Bureau deputy director peak: arrange a group of investigators to Xian Customs for inquiry, found that they withheld a mail from the Customs. The number in front of the mobile phone number, the last number, and the address of his mail are similar to what we know. From this point, we determined the mobile phone number used by the suspect, and the mail of it (package). Address and addressee.
In June this year, the police captured Jiang Mous first-class agents Bai Mou, Wu Mou, Wang Mou, Xie Mou and Shen Mou in Shaanxi, Guizhou, Fujian and Yunnan. Subsequently, according to the clue, the task force captured 40 people who purchased firearms or ammunition.
Han Jixin, a police officer in the Criminal Police Brigade of Wangqing County Public Security Bureau, said that this is not a gun barrel or ammunition. He would write gifts and gifts. The barrel seller would make an iron tripod, and then put the barrel in the inside of the tripod. If he sells bullets, he will pack tin foil. Sometimes he will do some articles on express.
In September, the police went to 16 cities across the country in groups and captured all 16 other agents of Jiang Mou in China.
Li Longhu, captain of the Criminal Police Detachment of Yanbian State Public Security Bureau, said: They all know that this is an illegal and criminal act. They sell guns and ammunition by using other peoples identities, bank cards and mobile phone cards registered under other peoples names.
Over the past year, 116 suspects were captured and 50 guns were seized, including 6 smuggled guns and more than 10,000 rounds of ammunition, and an illegal barrel processing plant located in Tonghua, Jilin Province was destroyed, and molds such as lathes were seized.
At present, the police have taken criminal compulsory measures against 52 suspects, and the remaining 64 suspects have been handed over to the local public security organs for handling.
Li Longhu, captain of the criminal police detachment of Yanbian State Public Security Bureau, said: Most of the people who buy guns are young people aged 20 to 30. The purpose of buying guns is to hunt or show off among friends.
At present, the police are still tracing down the whereabouts of guns and their components trafficked by these suspects, and the arrest of Jiang Mou, the main criminal involved, is also under way.
