Chinas national central city index comes out: North to Guangzhou leads many cities.

China News Agency, Zhengzhou, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) - The report of National Central City Index issued by the Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Zhengzhou on Nov. 3 shows that the national comprehensive center is Beijing, and the important national centers are Shanghai and Guangzhou.

On the same day, the Forum on the construction of the National Central City under the initiative of one belt and one road sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Zhengzhou municipal government was held in Zhengzhou. At the meeting, the report of National Central City Index was published by Zhengzhou Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the National Central City Research Group of the Center for Urban and Competitiveness of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

This time, the research group proposed that the national central city is not only reflected in the population and geographical area, but also needs the city to be able to carry the engine nature of the National Central function.

The research group selected 10 urban functions of politics, finance, science and technology, transportation, education, medical treatment, culture, information, trade (logistics) and international exchanges to measure the comprehensive service capacity of National Central cities. Through the index calculation of the agglomeration and connection of functions of more than 25 sample cities in the mainland of China, the research results are obtained.

The results show that Beijing is the national comprehensive center, Shanghai and Guangzhou are the national important centers, and Shenzhen, Wuhan, Tianjin, Chengdu, Chongqing, Xian, Nanjing, Hangzhou and Zhengzhou are the potential national important centers.

According to the index classification, Shanghai is the National Central City in the function of Finance and trade (logistics), followed by Beijing and Shenzhen. Beijing has a well-developed financial industry, with various national financial regulatory agencies and headquarters of many large financial institutions. Shenzhen is the first special economic zone in China. The density of banks, securities and insurance institutions, the number of foreign financial institutions and the proportion of employees rank among the top in the country.

Judging from the ranking, Guangzhou is a national transportation center. Potential important national transportation centers include Chengdu, Chongqing, Zhengzhou, Nanjing, Qingdao, Shenzhen, Changsha, Hangzhou, Tianjin and Jinan.

Among them, Chengdu is the largest railway hub in southwest China; Chongqing is the comprehensive transportation hub in southwest China, the only super-large transport hub with water, rail, public, air and other modes of transportation; Zhengzhou is at the center of Chinas traffic cross, and railway transportation is particularly developed, known as the City pulled by trains. . Planning and construction of national central cities is an important way and means to promote deep urbanization and enhance global competitiveness, and also an important grasp of regional and urban development and an important area of competition. The Research Group believes that there are many misunderstandings in the planning and construction of national central cities due to the lack of basic theoretical research and standard guidance, and blind positioning and vicious competition among cities also bring about many problems. It is of great significance for national planning and local construction of national central cities to construct an index evaluation system and follow up the evaluation of National Central cities.
