Andrew Brunson, an American priest, was one of the factors that led to the fall of Turkish American relations in recent years. In August this year, the U.S. government announced sanctions against Turkeys Justice and Interior Ministers, citing Turkeys continued imprisonment of Brensen, and then doubled the tariffs on U.S. imports of Turkish steel and aluminium products. Turkey responded strongly to the United States, refused to release Brenson, and introduced anti-tariff measures and boycotts of American electronic products. However, with the release of last month, the relationship between the US and the mainland turned around. U.S. Secretary of State Pompeo has said that the sanctions imposed on Turkey by the United States for the detention of Pastor Branson can now be lifted.
