Xinhua news agency, Lanzhou, April 21, reporters recently learned from the Dunhuang research institute that Yulin grottoes, located in guuzhou County, Gansu, will be suspended from April 25th this year to June 20th because of infrastructure renovation. According to the introduction, the Yulin grottoes were chiseled on the vertical East and West cliffs on both sides of the Yulin River Canyon and named after the elm trees on the banks of the river. In 1961, the grottoes were listed as the national key cultural relic protection units. Yulin cave is an important Grottoes along the ancient Silk Road. It is called the sister cave of Mogao Grottoes. Together with Mogao Grottoes and West thousand Buddha holes, it forms a grotto art system in Dunhuang, which is famous for its fine murals and painted sculpture. Dunhuang Research Institute said that because the Yulin grottoes are undergoing infrastructure renovation, it is impossible to ensure orderly visitors. In order to ensure the safety of cultural relics and tourists, the Yulin Grottoes have been decided to suspend the opening of the grottoes. At the same time, it is hoped that the visitors should arrange their travel time and route reasonably.
