The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the State Council will fight another tiger at the weekend.

At 17:30 on September 15, the website of the State Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Central Commission of Discipline Inspection announced that Li Shixiang, former vice-chairman of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese Peoples Political Consultative Conference, was suspected of serious disciplinary violations and was currently undergoing disciplinary review and investigation by the State Commission for Discipline Inspection.

Peng Mei News noted that Li Shixiang was also the second deputy ministerial cadre to be notified of the investigation and prosecution in Beijing after Lu Xiwen, then deputy secretary of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee, fell from power at the end of 2015.

Born in August 1958 in Beijing, Li Shixiang never left the capital in his political career, from a teacher of Beijing Caochang Middle School to a vice chairman of the Beijing CPPCC.

In 2006, Li Shixiang was promoted to the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee, ranked as a vice-ministerial cadre, and concurrently served as Secretary-General of the Municipal Party Committee in December of that year. He left the post of Standing Committee of the Municipal Committee and Deputy Mayor the following month. Li Shixiang made his last public appearance before leaving the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal Committee on the afternoon of February 18, 2017, according to Beijings official media reports.
