Tesla releases the worlds largest rooftop solar array photos

Netease Technologies News September 16, according to Electrek reports, Tesla Electric Vehicle Company is currently building a huge Gigafactory 1 in the desert of Nevada, the United States, the goal is to produce more batteries than the industry as a whole in 2013. But at the same time, the company is seeking to break another world record by building the worlds largest array of rooftop solar panels.

Tesla plans to build the worlds largest roof solar system in Nevada to power SuperFactory 1. Teslas ambition is ultimately to rely entirely on renewable energy to provide electricity for factories. In January 2017, the company announced plans to build a huge 70 MW roof solar array, which will also be the worlds largest solar facility.

On Thursday, Tesla Twittered a picture of the roof array of solar panels at SuperFactory 1, which wrote: SuperFactory 1 is a pure electric power plant that does not directly consume fossil fuels (natural gas or oil). We will achieve 100% sustainable energy supply through a combination of 70 MW solar roof arrays and solar ground installations. This solar roof array is 7 times larger than the largest rooftop solar system installed today.

To be fair, solar power plants installed on the ground are much larger, but Tesla is talking about rooftop solar arrays. If it could actually install 70 megawatts of solar arrays on the roof of SuperFactory 1, it would be the largest solar device on the roof. Tesla eventually started construction in February (about a year after the announcement), but the company stopped building after installing six solar panels. Last month, they began expanding huge solar panels, and Tesla released a rare picture of the solar panel array, reiterating on Twitter that it would be the worlds largest rooftop solar panel array.

As you can see from the picture, Tesla is using large commercial solar modules. The company adds that they will use about 200,000 solar modules, which means each module will generate about 350 watts of electricity. The latest satellite images show that Tesla has installed about 12 solar panels. Tesla still has a long way to go to reach the installed capacity of 70MW.

Previous reports said that the current No. 1 super factory covers an area of 177,000 square meters, the factory currently has about 455,000 square meters of operating space. According to Tesla, this is only 30% of the planned super factory. Over the past two years, Teslas focus on production has not changed much in appearance. With Teslas recent parking lot on the north side of the factory, the situation may change.

This change is important because Teslas current parking lot is located on the west side of the plant, where the expansion of the structure is planned. Therefore, they need to move the parking lot to continue construction. Initially, when the plant was fully operational, it should be able to produce 35GWh batteries and 50GWh battery packs. Tesla later claimed to have found ways to improve efficiency and to increase the batterys capacity to 105GWh and 150GWh under the same structure. Tesla recently announced that its battery production is about to reach 20GWh and plans to increase to 35GWh by the end of this year. The rooftop solar array at Apple Park, Apples new headquarters, is said to be one of the largest solar arrays with a capacity of 17 MW. This is already very large, but it still seems insignificant compared with Tesla factory. (small) source: NetEase science and technology report editor: Joe Chun Jing _NBJ11279
