In the OLED driver chip market, Korean companies almost monopolize the global share. The top three companies are all from South Korea. Samsung occupies 75% of the market share (after all, Samsung is the largest OLED company), magnachip accounts for 20%, while domestic manufacturers account for only 1%.
In the face of such a situation, a number of domestic drive IC enterprises have strengthened their own research, and Huawei Hisilicon has joined the battlefield. Earlier on, Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huaweis consumer business, issued the notice on the establishment of display drive products in the terminal chip business department, which formally researched and developed display drive products.
In addition, the mainstream technology of display driver IC is 65nm and 40nm, and the highest is 28nm process. These processes have been mass produced in domestic factories. According to the analysis of securities companies, Huawei can completely beautify this chip and get rid of dependence on foreign chips.
