The 5nm and 3nm processes will be the processes that TSMC can generate a lot of revenue in the next few years. According to reports from foreign media, the main production capacity of TSMCs two major processes will be in their wafer plants located in Tainan Science Park. The production capacity of TSMC in 2024 and 2025 will also be mainly concentrated in Tainan Science Park.
TSMC currently has three Fabs in Tainan Science Park, which are wafer plant 14, wafer plant 18 and wafer 6. Among them, the first two are 12 inch wafer fabs and the last one is 8 inch wafer fab.
According to the information on TSMCs official website, wafer plant 18 is the main production base for their 5nm process, which means that their 5nm process capacity is mainly concentrated in this wafer plant.
In addition to the 5nm process, TSMCs 3nm process plant will also be built in the Tainan Science Park. In 2016, they announced the plan to build a factory, with an investment of up to 19.5 billion US dollars. The factory is close to the 18 wafer plants, the main production base of 5nm process technology.
Foreign media also mentioned in the report that Wei Zhejia, CEO of TSMC, said in a previous report that 60% to 70% of TSMCs production capacity will be in Tainan Science Park from 2024 to 2025.
