Apple 5g baseband roadmap exposed! IPhone 13 or high pass X60 chip

In April 2019, apple and Qualcomm reached an agreement to settle a long-standing global lawsuit between the two companies, paving the way for Apples iPhone 12 series and subsequent products to use Qualcomms 5g modem chip.

Apples iPhone 11 series uses Intel chips, but because Intel couldnt make 5g modem chips, apple turned to Qualcomms technology.

According to page 71 of the settlement agreement between apple and Qualcomm, Apple plans to use the Qualcomm snapdragon X60 modem chip in new products to be launched from June 1, 2021 to May 31, 2022. Apple has also promised to use the X65 and X70 modem chips not yet announced by Qualcomm in new products to be launched between June 1, 2022 and May 31, 2024.

According to the settlement agreement at that time, Apple plans to (I) use the Qualcomm sdx55 chipset in some of the new products to be launched from June 1, 2020 to May 31, 2021; (II) some of the new products to be launched from June 1, 2021 to May 31, 2022, will use the Qualcomm sdx60 chipset; and (III) from June 1, 2022 to May 31, 2024 Some of the new products will use the Qualcomm sdx65 or sdx70 chipset.

Compared with x55, X60 modem chip based on 5nm technology will have better performance. Smart phones equipped with X60 chips can be used in both millimeter wave and less than 6GHz networks, which is the best combination of high-speed and low delay network coverage.

When Qualcomm launched the X60 modem chip in February 2020, it said that 5g smart phones using the chip would be launched in 2021. This also confirms the information revealed in Apples product roadmap, that is, Apples new iPhone product next year should use the X60 modem chip from Qualcomm. (Tianmen Mountain)
