Professor Yao Maosheng and the cooperation team of Peking University School of environmental science and engineering, Beijing Chaoyang Center for Disease Control and prevention recruited nearly 60 patients with new crown disease (including cases transported from abroad and local cases in Beijing), 15 healthy people and some people with non new crown respiratory system infection Condensate.

The team further used RT-PCR (nucleic acid amplification) to find that early patients with new coronavirus emitted a large number of new coronavirus through respiration, which reached several million per hour. It was found that the positive rate of new coronavirus in exhaled breath of new crown patients was as high as 27%, while the positive rate of related substances in the environment of patients with new crown was only 5.4%. In addition, the team also detected new coronavirus in the air of medical environment and isolated hotel environment, and found new coronavirus in some samples, such as toilet air, with a concentration of up to 6000 viruses per cubic meter. However, due to hospital ventilation and other measures, the concentration of new coronavirus in the air was lower than the detection limit of nucleic acid amplification.
