According to reports, An-2 is an old agricultural aircraft. It first flew in 1947, when the Soviet Union was in the process of post World War II reconstruction. The Azerbaijani military has installed the UAV control system into the cockpit of the aircraft to replace the human pilot.

During the battle, several Azerbaijani An-2 were shot down by Armenian, and the outside world learned that the old aircraft had been transformed into UAVs.

In addition, satellite images showed that more than 50 An-2 UAVs were deployed at yevlak airport near the conflict area.
