As of the morning of October 3, more than 950 schools across the country had confirmed new coronavirus cases, according to surveillance data on Lorenzo Rufino campus of the University of Turin in Italy. 131 schools were forced to close down to curb the spread of the disease. Among them, 77% were students, 11% were teachers and 12% were teaching staff.

Gianni Reza, director of the general prevention department of the Italian Ministry of health, said sporadic cases were occurring all over the country, the outbreak points and transmission chain of the virus were increasing continuously, and the general inpatients and severe patients were also steadily increasing.
