According to reports, the U.S. Department of justice and state attorney general will sue Google for antitrust violations as soon as next week, marking a significant escalation in the fight between Washington and the Silicon Valley giants.
Three Google sources said the Justice Department had been investigating Google for 16 months and circulated a text of the proposed complaint internally this week. Two of the sources said the lawsuit could be filed later next week. The source also said that the U.S. Department of justice and the state attorney general had a conversation in the afternoon of 2 local time and discussed the proposed antitrust litigation.
