According to the information released on the official website of arcep, the French regulatory agency for the distribution of electronic communications, postal and print media, the auction has reached the 12th round, and the auction price of each spectrum segment has reached 111 million euros.
The auction of 5g spectrum in France was launched on Tuesday local time. It auctioned 11 unused spectrum segments (10MHz each) between 3.4-3.8ghz. It is planned to launch 5g commercial network in some French cities by the end of the year.
There are four telecom operators participating in the auction of Frances 11 segment 5g spectrum, namely Bouygues Telecom, freemobile, orange and SFR. On the day of auction, the four telecom operators conducted four rounds of bidding, and the bidding price of each spectrum segment reached 85 million euros.
The auction will continue on Thursday, local time as only 11 segments of 5g spectrum resources are available in France, but the four telecom operators need 13 segments, more than they can provide.
The 13th round of auctions will start on Thursday, with prices set at 114 million euros per segment, according to arceps official website.
