Ann Demeulemeester, a graduate of Royal College of art in Antwerp, became famous for her avant-garde design at London Fashion Week in 1986. She co founded her brand with her husband, photographer Patrick Robyn, in 1985. In 1991, the first fashion show was held in Paris. The style was very distinctive, and black and white were always used throughout the show.
In 1996, after the release of the latest mens wear series, Demeulemeester became one of the first designers to show mens and womens wear at the same time in a fashion show. Then, he announced his withdrawal from the fashion industry in 2013. Sebastien Meunier, a French designer, took over the post of creative director of ANN Demeulemeester brand. He left in July this year.
