US Deputy Secretary of state visits Taiwans foreign ministry today: necessary response will be made

At a regular Foreign Ministry press conference held on the same day, Wang Wenbin said that China firmly opposes official exchanges between the United States and Taiwan in any situation, and this position is clear and consistent. The US sides insistence on arranging Deputy Secretary of state Kraschs visit to Taiwan seriously violates the one China principle and the provisions of the three Sino US joint communiques, encourages the arrogance of Taiwan independence forces, and undermines Sino US relations and peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait. China firmly opposes this and has made solemn representations to the United States.

According to foreign media reports, Kraschs current visit to Taiwan will be the highest ranking U.S. State Department official to visit Taiwan since Washington broke off diplomatic relations with Taipei in 1979. At the same time, this is also the second high-level U.S. official to visit Taiwan this year after U.S. health secretary Azar visited Taiwan in early August.

Wang Wenbin said that China urges the United States to fully recognize the high sensitivity of the Taiwan issue, abide by the one China principle and the provisions of the three Sino US joint communiques, immediately stop official exchanges between the United States and Taiwan, enhance substantive relations, and handle the Taiwan issue prudently. China will make necessary response according to the development of the situation.
