Boeings loyal wingman will fly soon after engine test

Shane Arnott, Boeings program director, said engine testing took the test flight a step closer, and because the UAV uses advanced manufacturing technology, it is possible to choose a very light, off the shelf engine. But Boeing did not disclose which engine it chose.

The concept drone was unveiled at the Avalon air show in 2019, when the Australian Department of Defense said it was willing to invest $29 million in its research and development. Boeing said the project is the largest UAV project outside the United States, but did not disclose the amount of investment. (end)
