On April 16, the Civil Aviation Administration of China issued the notice on further clarifying the issues related to the sale of international air tickets during the epidemic period, requiring airlines to adopt the direct sales mode for all international air tickets, ensure transparency and price, and put an end to scalping and speculation in the middle link.
On August 27, an insider of a business travel company disclosed to the cover news reporter that during the epidemic period, an economy class ticket returned to China was fired up to 180000. At present, Shanghai and Beijing public security teams have set up special cases to investigate in the form of fraud. Several passengers have successfully found agents to refund the price difference. However, 90% of the passengers did not know it and still thought it was a market premium.
Tickets for domestic flights are hard to get, with scalpers selling tickets up to 180000
In March, when the epidemic broke out in overseas countries, overseas students received notices of suspension of classes and examinations. Faced with the increasing number of confirmed cases, anxiety, fear, and worry enveloped the students and their families in the other hemisphere. They began to search all kinds of channels for a ticket to go home.
On March 29, the Civil Aviation Administration issued the five one policy, that is, an airline can only keep one route in a country, and at most one flight a week.
According to Song Gang (pseudonym), an insider of a business travel company, the number of flights back to China has dropped sharply. The price of return tickets in North America and Europe has risen from the usual price of 89000 economy class to 20000-40000. However, it is still difficult to get one ticket. Several ticket agents have taken advantage of this opportunity to speculate on high-priced tickets.
In this regard, on April 16, CAAC issued the notice on further clarifying the issues related to the sale of international air tickets during the epidemic period, requiring airlines to adopt the direct selling mode for all international air tickets to ensure transparency and price marking, and to eliminate ticket scalping and speculation in the intermediate links.
However, this did not prevent the agents high price speculation. At that time, there were three types of return flights: direct flights, charter flights and transfer flights. The agents price of each type of flight varied. The price of economy class for direct flights was as high as 100000 yuan. Song Gang said, the maximum amount is 180000 yuan.
Ms. Zhous son is a bachelor in Canada. After the outbreak of the epidemic, she is worried about his sons safety. She has been looking for ways to buy air tickets and let him come back. In June, she contacted a special ticket agent through a friends recommendation. The original price of the ticket was more than 40000 yuan. Finally, she bought a direct flight ticket from Vancouver to Chengdu in July with a deposit of 10000 yuan and a transaction price of more than 100000 yuan.
Cheng, a graduate student in New York, contacted an air ticket agent on wechat. The original price of the transfer flight of Ethiopian Airlines, which was more than 20000 yuan, was finally traded at the price of 61000 yuan, and returned to Shanghai. The agent said that he could not lower the price because the other party was not allowed to give him a place. What I thought at that time was that it would be nice to be able to return home successfully. I didnt think of so many other things.
If the agent is investigated for fraud, the consumer may ask for the return of the price difference
On August 9, Song Gang received a notice from the International Airport Branch of Shanghai Public Security Bureau to obtain evidence. He learned that there was a person acting for the ticket without permission, and was finally detained on suspicion of duty embezzlement. At present, Shanghai and Beijing public security have set up a special group to investigate in the form of fraud, some passengers know to go to the agent, and the agent has to return the money to them.
Song Gang said that on April 20, the company had received a direct sales notice issued by the airline company, informing internal personnel not to resell tickets without permission. Many Chinese primary and junior high school students studying in the UK are worried that no matter how high the price is, they hope that their children will come back safely. As a result, the market has illegally bid up prices.
Ms. Zhou, who bought tickets at the price of 100000, only learned in July that the Civil Aviation Administration had issued a notice on further clarifying the issues related to the sale of international air tickets during the epidemic period, and that the tickets she purchased were illegal operations of agents, suspected of fraud and illegal operation.
So she called the airline to complain, and the next day, she received a refund of 60000 yuan from the agent.
According to her knowledge, many informed passengers have received refund of price difference. But most of the people who have been paid for tickets at increased prices dont know about it. They think its market behavior. Even if theyre harvested, they can get money back from ticket dealers.
The investigation has been strict recently, and ticket dealers have kept a low profile. Song Gang revealed that a number of suspected agency companies have been investigated and punished, and major airlines have strictly dealt with the relevant suspects from the inside. He also called on passengers who bought high-priced international air tickets through unofficial channels during the outbreak of the epidemic to report directly to airlines or to the police to recover the losses of consumers.
