On August 11, the Russian airspace surveillance system found an aerial target flying close to the Russian border over the neutral waters of the Chukchi Sea, the Russian army said in the news. Russias eastern military region dispatched three MiG-31 fighters to intercept the target. The Russian crew identified the target as the US Air Force rq-4b Global Hawk UAV from a safe distance.

The Russian army stressed: after the rq-4b Global Hawk UAV turned around at the Russian border, Russian fighters returned to the base safely.
