On August 8, local time, trump signed several executive orders to extend part of the expired relief measures for the new crown epidemic after negotiations with congressional Democrats were deadlocked. One executive order called for an additional $400 a week in unemployment assistance for the unemployed, with the States paying the remaining $200. Kentucky governor Steven behill said it would not work. My motivation today is not to criticize or point out that the presidents executive order is not out of a good intention to help, but to point out that the current program is not feasible..
Governors say local governments dont have enough money to pay for the extra unemployment benefits, and some state governments may even fail. Cuomo also said that the administrative order will be challenged by the New York court, and whether trump has the right to make such an order remains to be seriously examined by law.
