According to Article 6 of the notice, the staff of Jinghong party and government organs and institutions shall, in principle, not less than two days a week wear ethnic costumes during work. Article 7 of the notice also stipulates that the leading cadres of the four groups of Jinghong City and the leading cadres of the towns and townships (streets, farms, management committees) and units directly under the municipal government shall wear ethnic costumes when attending important meetings, festivals and celebrations, important reception and going out to participate in important activities, and shall wear ethnic costumes with leaders during working hours.
So what are the local ethnic costumes?
According to the public information, Jinghong, which means the city of dawn in Dai language, is a multi-ethnic frontier area with Dai as the main body. Jingyong, Jinglong in ancient times, and Cheli and Chuli in the old days. It is the capital of Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture and the political, economic and cultural center of the whole Prefecture.
