Earlier, Irans Civil Aviation Organization said it had filed a complaint with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and demanded that the issue of us warplanes approaching the Iranian airliner, a flight of Mahan airlines from Tehran to Beirut, be studied immediately. The Iraqi airliner landed in Beirut, dropped passengers and refuelled before returning to Tehran.
According to Iran, on July 23, U.S. fighter planes invaded an Iranian Mahan airliner twice within six minutes. The first interference occurred when an Iranian airliner flew over the Syrian military strategic area of Al TANF near the border between Syria, Jordan and Iraq, and the second occurred when the aircraft flew over the Syrian Lebanon border. The pilot of the plane was forced to rapidly lower its altitude to avoid a collision with an American fighter plane. The sudden turn caused some passengers to be injured and hit their heads on the ceiling of the plane.
