Pushpandra Singh Parmar, a former employee of Alibabas UCWEB, said he was wrongly fired for opposing false news in the companys app and demanded compensation of $268000 (about 1.9 million yuan), according to Reuters.

Sonia sheokand, a civil judge of a district court in gurugram, the satellite city of New Delhi, has issued subpoenas to more than a dozen people or companies, including Alibaba and Ma Yun, asking them to appear in court or through lawyers on July 29.

The lawsuit is the latest hurdle for Alibaba in India, after India removed Alibabas apps such as UC browser from the shelves, and UCWEB began to lay off employees in India.

Previously, UC browsers had at least 689 million downloads in India, compared with 79.8 million downloads from ucnews, according to analyst firm sensor tower.
