Second, although the short-term ketogenic diet seems to be safe for people, there is a lack of long-term data to prove that long-term ketogenic diet has no effect on health. Previously, ketogenic diet treatment of epilepsy in children with a number of complications, including kidney stones, constipation, gastrointestinal problems, pancreatitis and vitamin D and calcium deficiency. In addition, in 2012, a 25 year epidemiological survey in Switzerland found that high-fat diet can lead to high blood cholesterol levels.
Like many other diets, ketogenic diets are not for everyone. Some people may benefit from it, especially in the short term, but it cant be taken as a perfect weight loss program.
