The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government issued a press release in the early morning of July 23, saying that the affairs of the SAR are internal affairs of China and no other country has the right to intervene directly or indirectly.

According to Hong Kongs east net and Star Island daily, the EU released its annual report on Hong Kongs political and economic development, pointing out that Hong Kong has faced serious challenges in terms of autonomy, stability and freedom since last year, and has further upgraded this year. The EU will not stand idly by and take action on it. The Hong Kong government responded early on the 23rd, reiterating that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is an inseparable part of the peoples Republic of China and a local administrative region directly under the Central Peoples government with a high degree of autonomy under one country, two systems. However, the affairs of the SAR are internal affairs of China, and no other country has the right to directly or indirectly interfere in such internal affairs.

The SAR government can not agree with the comments in the report on the implementation of one country, two systems in Hong Kong. Concerns about the high degree of autonomy of the Hong Kong SAR and the weakening of the legitimate rights and freedoms enjoyed by the people of Hong Kong are totally groundless. The report seems to focus on the increase in political pressure and intervention faced by enterprises in Hong Kong, but it ignores that many enterprises have been targeted and damaged by thugs because they support the views of China or the government, the spokesman said

No one can override the law for whatever reason, the spokesman stressed. In the face of these serious violations, the police have the legal responsibility to take legal measures to maintain public order and public safety. The police have strict guidelines on the use of force, which are consistent with international human rights norms and standards. It should be noted that the street violence and conflicts in the past few months have not resulted in death as a result of police actions. On the contrary, one innocent citizen was killed by thugs, another was severely burned and hundreds of front-line police officers were injured.

The spokesman also said, it is mentioned in the report that last years District Council elections were held in a peaceful manner. The truth is that before the election day, people, including candidates, were attacked and their property was damaged. The law enforcement agencies are following up on complaints of violations of the election. In addition, the report refers to measures or bills introduced by individual countries or parliaments against Hong Kong. These acts are in flagrant violation of international law and do not serve the interests of Hong Kong residents and our bilateral partners.
