Prati is a time division striker who has played for Milan, Rome, Florence and other teams. He has scored 205 goals in 458 appearances in his career and won the golden boot of Serie A in 1967-68.

Prati helped Milan win the Serie A title in 1967-68 and the Champions League in 1968-69. In the 1969 Champions League final, he scored a hat trick to help Milan beat Ajax 4-1. He is also the only three players in the history of the Champions League to wear hats in the final, the other two are the famous Puskas (twice) and di Stefano.
