British security officials have told British Telecom operators and Vodafone to make sure they have enough Huawei equipment in stock, according to foreign media reports, for fear that US sanctions will undermine Huaweis ability to maintain key supplies.
A spokesman for the UKs National Cybersecurity Centre said the centre provided operators with a range of possible preventive measures and was also carefully considering the impact of the US sanctions on UK networks.
The head of Britains largest business group has backed Huawei, warning that restricting the Chinese companys participation could damage the recovery.
Carolyn Fairbairn, Director-General of the CBI, said the countrys future economic recovery had been labeled digital first, with many employees working from home and businesses looking for innovative ways to adapt and improve productivity, the report said.
Huawei has always been an important driver of 5g applications, which will be an important part of our economic recovery, Mr Fairbairn said
