Counterpoint: Apple continues to monopolize the high-end mobile phone market and Huawei relies on 5g

Recently, counter point, a famous research institution in the world, released the Q1 global high-end mobile phone market report in 2020. According to the report, in the first quarter of this year, high-end phones with more than $400 accounted for 22% of global smartphone sales and nearly 57% of revenue, while in this market, the share of iPhones was almost monopolistic, up to 57%. Next, Samsung and Huawei account for 19% and 12% respectively.

The worlds top five best-selling high-end mobile phones, iPhone exclusive top four, Huawei mate30pro5g version as the only Android model on the list, ranked fifth. Analysts believe that the high sales volume of Huawei mate 30 not only benefits from the strong performance of photo taking function, but also supports the sales volume of mobile phones. After all, there is no 5g mobile phone in the apple family.

The counter point report also shows that 5g devices account for one fifth of the total high-end segment. Now 39% of the sales of all 5g devices are within the price range of 400-600 US dollars, and 63% of all 5g devices in the high-end segment are in China. This is one of the reasons why some of Huaweis mobile phones perform well in the high-end mobile phone market.

The report also pointed out that affected by the new crown epidemic, the total volume of high-end mobile phone market shipments in the first quarter of this year fell 13% year-on-year. But 5g equipment sales continued to rise. Among them, Huawei mobile phones account for 42% of the total sales of 5g devices in the high-end segment.
