Unlike cloud computing, which requires data to be transmitted to the cloud for computing and then returned, edge computing is characterized by directly computing at local terminals. The advantage of edge computing is that it doesnt need to upload all the data, so it can react quickly, which is necessary for scenarios such as the Internet of vehicles and VR / AR that need real-time computing. At the same time, edge computing can reduce the pressure on the central cloud, while the cost is only 39% of the single level cloud.

Similar applications can also be extended to cloud desktop and many other applications. According to some data, by 2023, Chinas cloud game market will be more than 100 billion, and by 2022, the cloud education market will be more than 300 billion.
Of course, there is more room for industrial applications. Wu Hequan said. He takes the car assembly process as an example. If he brings a 5g + Ar glasses to the workers and connects them to the cloud network, even a worker who cant repair the car can operate step by step according to the improvement of AR glasses to realize automatic assembly.
The practice of Jiangling Automobile shows that after using 5g + Ar glasses, the assembly efficiency of workers is increased by 40% and the error rate is reduced by 72%.
5g + Ar has also been used by Shanghai COMAC in the assembly of aircraft. After the arrival of large parts such as wings and fuselages from all over the country, these parts need to be accurately connected, which in the past requires highly skilled and experienced engineers. After the entry of AR glasses, this efficiency will also be greatly improved.
In fact, cloud computing, AI, machine vision and other applications in industrial detection are more direct and common. According to the statistics of prospective research institute, more than 3.5 million workers conduct visual inspection on the production line every day in China, but the accuracy of manual inspection is not high. However, if the industrial HD video is connected to the central cloud through 5g and edge computing, and analyzed with AI, the machine vision ability has surpassed that of human beings.
Cloud computing, 5G and other technology application scenarios also include updated e-commerce experience, intelligent diagnosis, environmental monitoring combined with UAV and AI, collaborative design in other places, etc.
