 Japans defense ministry says suspected Chinese submarines have been found in the waters near Amami Island


On the afternoon of June 18, the maritime self defense forces found a foreign submarine driving westward in the connecting waters of the northeast of Amami Island, Kagoshima Prefecture, Japans defense ministry said on June 20. It was confirmed that the submarine left the connecting waters on the morning of the 20th and sailed westward in the East China Sea. No invasion of Japanese territorial waters.

Japans defense ministry said that the sea sent P-1 anti submarine aircraft, P-3C anti submarine aircraft and a number of ships to conduct intelligence collection and surveillance in the relevant waters.

According to Japans NHK report, Japanese defense ministry officials said that according to the information collected, it is suspected that it is the submarine of the Chinese Navy, and the defense ministry will analyze the purpose of navigation.
