Guo Ping, chairman in office of Huawei, responded to the new round of technical restrictions imposed on Huawei by the United States on May 15, saying that Huawei faces the impact of the entity list of the United States, and the good news is that we are still alive. Huawei has made great efforts to maintain customer supply and gained the understanding of the vast majority of customers.
Guo Ping said that in view of the restrictions on Huawei imposed by the US upgrade, he did not understand why the US continued to increase the restrictions on Huawei imposed by the entity list. Fortunately, we have a plan, and Huawei is confident to find a solution as soon as possible.
Guo Ping also stressed that Huawei has more than 85000 authorized patents, but Huawei will not charge too much patent fees, nor will it weaponize patents, and Huawei will actively participate in the activities of industry standards organizations and make contributions.
Product rule modification
Huawei strongly opposes the US Department of Commerces modification of direct product rules only for Huawei. Since it was incorporated into the entity list by the U.S. government on May 16, 2019, Huawei has always been committed to complying with applicable laws and regulations, fulfilling its contractual obligations with customers and suppliers, struggling to survive and strive to move forward under the circumstances that a large number of industrial technology elements are not sustainable.
Huawei is in the process of making a comprehensive assessment of the incident, and it is expected that its business will inevitably be affected. The company will try its best to find solutions, and hope that customers and suppliers will work with Huawei to eliminate the adverse effects of this discriminatory rule.
Guo Ping mentioned that even if the U.S. imposed restrictions on Huawei in 2019, Huawei still purchased $18.7 billion of products from U.S. suppliers. If the U.S. allows, Huawei will continue to purchase. At the same time, HUAWEI will pay more attention to and cultivate other suppliers, grow and innovate together, and build a more competitive supply chain.
Guo Ping believes that a unified standard system is extremely important to the development of the industry. There are too many independent standards in the United States, resulting in no one in the U.S. wireless operators is currently a competitor of Huawei.
Guo Ping believes that in the field of connectivity, the pursuit of a unified standard is everyones consensus. In the 2G era, it is the US equipment manufacturers with multiple systems that no longer have a leading position in the competition, leading to the absence of Huaweis competitors. By promoting GSM and becoming a global standard, European equipment manufacturers have gained great benefits.
Wang Tao, managing director of Huawei, said he will continue to work with partners to promote the development of digital economy in Europe and deepen cooperation in 5g, AI computing and optical communication.
On Monday, Huawei said it would build differentiated Huawei cloud solutions from three aspects.
Second, Huawei will form its own digital experience into a solution to better serve customers.
Third, Huawei will adhere to the concept of CO creation to create an open cloud.
Huawei and apple industry chain are affected
As for the US Department of Commerces direct product rule modification only for Huawei, some securities companies have the following views:
Guoxin Securities said that in terms of the urgency of components, there is a large pressure on the upstream design software EDA, manufacturing equipment and wafer manufacturing links, such as CPU, FPGA, analog chip, RF device chip and memory chip. As can be seen from table 1, at present, most of the core chips and software systems cannot be replaced by domestic ones, and there is still a large gap between some fields and foreign ones.
At present, the core manufacturing process of Huaweis core SOC chip and FPGA chip is 7Nm. It is expected that EDA software at the chip design end, chip manufacturing of upstream equipment and high-end manufacturing process will become the focus of the US governments attack.
Societe Generale said that upstream equipment and software are currently monopolized by the United States and may become the direction of continuous pressure in the future. At present, the semiconductor equipment and EDA software involved in wafer manufacturing in China are mainly provided by US enterprises. American manufacturers such as applied materials, Fanlin and Kelei occupy more than 40% of the global semiconductor equipment market. Cadence, Synopsys and mentor occupy about 60% of EDA market of global IC design. As the U.S. election is approaching, the future trade friction between China and the United States may appear repeatedly. It is expected that semiconductor equipment and EDA software will become the direction of continuous pressure in the future.
Affected by the upgrading of U.S. measures to restrict chip exports, individual stocks in Huaweis industrial chain have been affected to varying degrees. At the same time, Apples industrial chain has not been spared.
