The Beijing News previously reported that on March 26, 2018, Gao Yunxiang and producer Wang Jing were suspected of sexually assaulting a 36 year old Australian Chinese American female TV producer in a Sydney Hotel, Australia. After the incident, they were arrested. Later Gao Yunxiang was charged with 7 charges, including serious sexual assault and deprivation of the victims freedom.

On December 4, 2019, new progress came from the case of Gao Yunxiang. At 16:00 local time, after thanking the members of the jury for their efforts for six weeks, the local judge announced the dissolution of the jury. The reason is that the members of the jury must agree that Gao Yunxiang is not guilty, but this opinion is not unified, so the jury is dismissed, which means that the jury will be re selected and the case will be retried.

Today, people familiar with the matter said that the case was reopened on Tuesday, and the daily court session continues to this day. The main content of the trial is to check the audio and video recordings of the last session. Eight men, four women and 12 jurors have been replaced in the case, which is expected to last six weeks.
