Suggestions on the establishment of National Public Health Day
Every country in the world uses the method of commemoration day to mark the major events of a nation or the whole mankind, so as to arouse public awareness and broad and lasting support, such as teachers day and AIDS Day.
The century epidemic, which began in Wuhan, China in 2019, has exposed the long-standing public health shortcomings of modern medicine in China and even in the world. The establishment of National Public Health Day at this moment is not only the best time to commemorate the anti epidemic war, but also the best time to further arouse the public health concept of the whole people and improve the awareness of public health and safety. It is also the best way to accelerate the construction of a healthy China and advocate a healthier lifestyle. Chinas outbreak of novel coronavirus pneumonia has been a major event in modern Chinas public health history at the end of 2019. In order to put out the epidemic situation, the state quickly responded to the decisive decision and took the unprecedented thunderous action of closing the city of Wuhan on January 23, 2020. It is an unprecedented major decision in human history to take this measure against cities with tens of millions of people. This action not only quickly and effectively curbed the spread of the epidemic in China, but also greatly reduced the risk of case export to other countries and regions, and won precious time for global epidemic prevention and control, reflecting the responsibility and responsibility of the Chinese government as a responsible big government for the health of China and the worlds people. This day should be recorded in historical records, recording the heroic history of the Chinese peoples struggle against the century epidemic. 2u3001 Coincidentally, on the same day that Wuhan was closed 18 years ago (January 23, 2002), the modern China Center for Disease Control and prevention was solemnly established in the Great Hall of the people in Beijing. This is a milestone event in the history of Chinas public health development. It has set up the banner of Chinas public health, demonstrated Chinas health work policy of prevention first, and marked the strategic transfer of Chinas public health from the prevention of infectious diseases to the comprehensive health promotion. This is a day worthy of special commemoration for the development of the cause of Chinese peoples health. 3u3001 The pursuit of health and longevity is the eternal theme of human beings, so the development of public health is not a temporary goal, but a long-term focus of a country and a nation. Chinas patriotic health movement used to be a bright flag on the world public health stage. Todays Chinas public health development urgently needs the improvement or reconstruction of the system, as well as the cultural foundation and social support more than ever. Setting January 23 as National Public Health Day once again can arouse peoples health awareness, integrate public health concept into social culture, and make healthy lifestyle and behavior become public conscious action. The establishment of National Public Health Day will also be an important measure to accelerate the construction of healthy China, implement the healthy China action and reflect the solemn commitment of the Chinese government to public health, and will become Chinas unique contribution to global health governance. To this end, we solemnly recommend that January 23 be set as National Public Health Day. (English: National Public Health Day)
