Overseas network, Jan. 8 (CNN) -- the U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) said on the same day that five Iraqi soldiers were injured in an earlier missile attack by Iran on two U.S. military facilities in Iraq, and the specific casualty information of the U.S. military is not clear.

The Los Angeles Times reported Monday that the U.S. military did not attempt to intercept the missile after it was found on the radar, but let the base personnel take refuge in the air defense facilities.

The Pentagon also said the base had been on high alert and would take necessary measures to protect U.S. forces and regional allies.
