Can Taijiquan prevent and treat diabetes?

It is undeniable that, in the background of many wonderful research being questioned repeatedly, the research of Taijiquan for diabetes has aroused a reasonable crowd. Whats more, there is no radical cure for diabetes in modern medicine, which is also common sense. Even the most familiar means of insulin therapy are to control and alleviate the disease.

But in modern medicine, exercise is effective to prevent many chronic diseases. Taijiquan itself is also a kind of exercise. Therefore, there is no need for public opinion to deny it.

Back to the Taijiquan prevention and treatment of diabetes, type 2 diabetes, that is, adult onset diabetes, mostly occurs after the age of 35-40, accounting for more than 90% of diabetic patients. Scientific research has found that obesity, high calorie diet, lack of physical activity and age increase are the most important environmental factors of type 2 diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia and other factors will also increase the risk of disease. Therefore, exercise is an effective way to prevent type 2 diabetes.

In practice, there are indeed many patients through fast walking and other sports to prevent and treat diabetes. Compared with fast walking, if the research proves that Taijiquan can prevent and cure diabetes, there is no lack of breakthrough value.

From the functional point of view, exercise can be divided into aerobic exercise, anaerobic exercise and flexible exercise. The existing research shows that both aerobic and anaerobic exercise can promote cardiovascular health and control blood glucose, that is to say, the combination of aerobic exercise and anaerobic exercise has better effect on blood glucose control in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Flexibility exercises include yoga, joint training, etc. This kind of exercise can maintain or increase the physiological activity range and joint stability of the joint, which is very helpful to prevent sports trauma and improve the quality of life. However, whether this kind of exercise can promote cardiovascular health and control blood sugar has not been clearly concluded.

Taijiquan is a kind of sport that integrates the functions of self-cultivation, physical fitness, fighting and confrontation, which is characterized by the combination of internal and external cultivation, softness, slowness, lightness, hardness and softness. In terms of function and form, Taijiquan can be classified as flexible exercise.

Some studies have shown that Taijiquan can help peoples balance and posture control, and it is one of the standard rehabilitation training for Parkinsons patients, but whether it can treat diabetes is still lack of effective research.

However, there are also studies that believe that if Taijiquan is played according to the standard, it will be hot and sweaty almost half an hour, which can play a role in burning fat and reducing weight. Therefore, in this sense, Taijiquan also has the characteristics of aerobic exercise. So, combined with the above research, Taijiquan can really have a preventive and therapeutic effect on diabetes.

Of course, these are theoretical discussions, and there is no real scientific research results to support them. For this reason, it is not necessarily unnecessary for the institutions concerned to use scientific research to solve these theoretical analysis and questions.

In a word, it is not necessary to deny the clinical research on the effect of Taijiquan on the functional rehabilitation of type 2 diabetes and stroke. We may as well keep our attention to the results of this research.
