 Former NBA President David Stern died at the age of 77 and held power for 30 years


Stern has been critically ill since he underwent emergency surgery in December for a sudden cerebral hemorrhage.

Stern replaced Larry OBrien as NBA president on February 1, 1984, and announced his resignation on January 31, 2014, serving as NBA president for 30 years. He was inducted into Naismith Hall of fame in 2014 and FIBA Hall of fame in 2016.
