Tesla said in the third quarter financial report conference call that the production plan of modely is ahead of schedule, and the production schedule is ahead of schedule to the summer of 2020. Tesla initially said delivery would begin in the fall of 2020.
Deutsche Banks estimates suggest that modely will be delivered six months ahead of Teslas original plan.
At the third quarter earnings conference call, Elon Musk, Teslas chief executive, said he expects model y to be mass produced by mid-2020. This could mean that a small number of cars could be produced before then - not in full batch production.
Modely may indeed be delivered in the first quarter, but only for employees and insiders. This was the case for model 3, which was delivered in July 2017 ahead of time, while official consumers were not able to buy the car until December of that year. (Tianmen Mountain)
