Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunyings speech on the Uyghur human rights policy bill 2019 passed by the U.S. House of Representatives
The U.S. House of Representatives has just passed the so-called Uyghur human rights policy bill 2019. The case deliberately slandered the human rights situation in Xinjiang, Chinas efforts to depolarize and combat terrorism, maliciously attacked the Chinese governments policy of governing Xinjiang, seriously violated international law and basic norms of international relations, and seriously interfered in Chinas internal affairs. China expresses strong indignation and firm opposition to this.
The problems related to Xinjiang are not human rights, nationality and religion at all, but anti terrorism and anti secession. Xinjiang once suffered from extremism and terrorism. In the face of the severe situation, the government of Xinjiang Autonomous Region, in accordance with the law, has cracked down on terrorist activities and attached great importance to source control, including actively pushing in the work of extremism, and constantly promoting economic development, national unity and social harmony and stability. These measures ensure that there has not been a terrorist attack in Xinjiang in three years. They are generally supported by 25 million people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang, and they have also made positive contributions to the cause of global counter-terrorism.
The international community has generally made positive comments on the policies of the Chinese government. Since the end of 2018, more than 1000 people, including more than 70 national and regional officials, international organizations, news media, religious groups, experts and scholars, have visited Xinjiang. They praised Xinjiangs experience in anti-terrorism and de extreme work for reference. In March this year, the Council of foreign ministers of the organization of Islamic cooperation adopted a resolution appreciating Chinas efforts to care for the Muslim people. In July, more than 50 permanent representatives to Geneva jointly sent letters to the president of the United Nations Human Rights Council and the High Commissioner for human rights, in which they spoke highly of Chinas respect for and protection of human rights in the work of counter-terrorism and de radicalization. In October, more than 60 countries spoke enthusiastically during the third committee meeting of the 74th session of the general assembly, praising the great progress of human rights in Xinjiang, China. All these strongly prove that the U.S. sides taking Xinjiang related issues as an article is totally against the facts and the mainstream public opinion of the international community.
We would like to warn the United States that the affairs in Xinjiang belong to Chinas internal affairs and cannot be interfered by any foreign country. The U.S. bill deliberately discredits Chinas counter-terrorism and de radicalization measures, which will only further expose its double standards on counter-terrorism, and will only let the Chinese people further see its hypocrisy and sinister intentions.
The Chinese government and people are unswervingly determined to safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests. It is absolutely impossible for the United States to use Xinjiang related issues to instigate Chinas national relations, undermine Xinjiangs prosperity and stability, and curb Chinas development and growth. We advise the US side to immediately correct its mistakes, prevent the above-mentioned Xinjiang related laws from becoming law, and stop using Xinjiang related issues to interfere in Chinas internal affairs. China will make further response according to the development of the situation.
The Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Peoples Congress issued a statement on the Uyghur human rights policy bill 2019 passed by the house of representatives of the United States Congress
Xinhua news agency, Beijing, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Peoples Congress issued a statement on the 2019 Uyghur human rights policy bill passed by the house of representatives of the United States Congress, as follows:
On December 3, local time, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the 2019 Uyghur human rights policy bill, which maliciously attacked the human rights situation in Xinjiang, China, distorted and discredited Chinas efforts to go to extremes and fight against terrorism, unjustifiably accused the Chinese government of its territorial policy and roughly interfered in Chinas internal affairs. We express our strong indignation and resolute opposition to this.
The establishment of vocational skill education and training center in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the development of vocational skill education and training are in accordance with the national security law, criminal law, criminal procedure law, anti-terrorism law and religious affairs regulations of the peoples Republic of China, the measures of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region for the implementation of the Anti Terrorism Law of the peoples Republic of China, and the measures of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region for the implementation of the Anti Terrorism Law of the peoples Republic of China Regulations on termination and other laws and regulations are established and implemented. The purpose of the establishment and implementation of Xinjiang Education and training center is to eliminate the soil and conditions for the breeding and spreading of terrorism and religious extremism, effectively curb the trend of frequent and frequent terrorist activities, and maximize the protection of the right to life, health and development of people of all ethnic groups. This is the best protection for the human rights of the people and a significant contribution to the cause of international counter-terrorism.
Terrorism and extremism are the public enemies of human society. It is the common responsibility of the international community to fight against terrorism and go to extremes. Facts have proved that Chinas relevant measures are effective, and the security situation in Xinjiang has improved significantly, and there have been no violent terrorist cases for three consecutive years. However, it is regrettable that the U.S. Congress has not only turned a blind eye to Xinjiangs efforts to fight terrorism and protect human rights in accordance with laws and regulations, but also to Xinjiangs current good situation of economic development, social stability, national unity and religious harmony. Instead, it has fabricated facts and slandered Chinas just act of anti-terrorism and de radicalization. This is a typical double standard on the issue of counter-terrorism, and its hypocrisy on the issue of human rights is exposed.
We are firmly opposed to any interference in Chinas internal affairs by external forces through human rights issues. We strongly urge the U.S. Congress to abandon political prejudices, give up the wrong way of putting pressure on China, stop unjustifiable accusations against China, stop interfering in Chinas internal affairs, and stop setting obstacles for the development of China-U.S. relations and bilateral cooperation on counter-terrorism.
Statement of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPPCC National Committee on the passage of the Uighur human rights policy act 2019 by the house of representatives of the United States Congress
Xinhua news agency, Beijing, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese peoples Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) issued a statement on the passage of the Uyghur human rights policy bill 2019 by the house of representatives of the United States Congress, which reads as follows:
On December 3, local time, despite Chinas firm opposition, the U.S. House of Representatives insisted on deliberating and passing the 2019 Uyghur human rights policy bill, grossly interfering in Chinas internal affairs and seriously violating the basic norms of international relations. The Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese peoples Political Consultative Conference strongly condemned this and expressed strong indignation and resolute opposition.
Xinjiang is the main battlefield of Chinas anti-terrorism and de extreme struggle. For a period of time, Xinjiang suffered from terrorism and religious extremism, and the safety of peoples lives was seriously threatened. The education and training center set up in Xinjiang is a vocational and technical education and training school, which aims to help the people who are brainwashed by violent and terrorist extreme thoughts to get rid of the shackles of extreme thoughts, enhance legal awareness, and master production and life skills. Since Xinjiang has taken a series of preventive anti-terrorism and de extreme measures in accordance with the law, there has been no case of violent terrorism for three consecutive years, showing a good situation of prosperity and stability, national unity and social harmony. This is Chinas important contribution to the cause of international counter-terrorism. The US passed this bill to open its eyes for terrorism, to help the tyranny, to negate and wipe out the anti-terrorism achievements in Xinjiang, and to seriously damage the international anti-terrorism cooperation.
The Chinese government attaches great importance to the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms of the people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang according to law, and the right to survival and development of the 25 million people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang is guaranteed to the greatest extent. Since the establishment of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region 64 years ago, the total economic volume has increased 80 times. Since 2014 alone, nearly 3 million poor people have been lifted out of poverty. At present, there are more than 28000 religious sites in Xinjiang, including more than 24000 mosques, with an average of 530 Muslim people owning one. Xinjiang has taken a series of preventive anti-terrorism and de extreme measures in accordance with the law to safeguard the security and human rights of the people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang. The United States has turned a blind eye to this, but it has pointed fingers at China. At the same time, it has provoked wars in many countries around the world, caused civilian casualties, and engaged in racial discrimination at home. Regardless of the facts and the fact that there is no distinction between black and white in this bill, the United States is engaged in double standards, under the guise of safeguarding human rights, and is actually undermining Xinjiangs stability and curbing Chinas development.
We firmly believe that the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core and the close unity of all Chinese people, including the people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang, will not succeed in any attempt to undermine Xinjiangs prosperity and stability and contain Chinas development. The U.S. side should distinguish right from wrong, recognize the facts, immediately stop interfering in Chinas internal affairs by taking advantage of Xinjiang related issues, focus on maintaining the overall situation of China-U.S. relations, do more things conducive to mutual trust and cooperation between China and the United States, jointly strengthen international anti-terrorism cooperation, and maintain world and regional peace and stability.
The National Ethnic Affairs Committee firmly opposes and strongly condemns the so-called 2019 Uyghur human rights policy bill passed by the US House of Representatives
Despite Chinas strong opposition and strict negotiation, the US side insisted on passing the so-called 2019 Uyghur human rights policy bill. This is a gross interference in Chinas internal affairs and a flagrant violation of international norms. This so-called bill ignored the facts and reversed the black and white. It was full of prejudice against Chinas policy of governing Xinjiang, obliterated all the achievements of Xinjiangs development, and ignored the real feelings of the people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang, including the Uighurs. It once again exposed the double standards and the false and ugly hegemonic logic that the United States would have no bottom line. The State Commission for Ethnic Affairs strongly opposes and strongly condemns this.
Xinjiang has been an integral part of Chinas territory since ancient times. Xinjiangs affairs are purely internal affairs of our country, and no external forces are allowed to intervene. For a long time, some politicians in the United States have ignored the atrocities committed by the three forces in Xinjiang and paid no attention to the personal safety of the people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang threatened by violence and terrorism. Now they attempt to support the three forces through the so-called Human Rights Act, which fully exposes that some politicians and anti Chinese forces in the United States are trying to use the so-called Xinjiang problem to contain and split me The countrys sinister intentions.
Xinjiang is Chinas Xinjiang, Uyghur is a member of the Chinese nations family. Any attempt to separate Chinas national relations and curb Chinas development is doomed to fail, and will eventually become a laughingstock of history. We will not cause trouble, but we will never be afraid of it. The will of the Chinese people of all ethnic groups to safeguard national unity and national unity is as firm as a rock, and the pace of realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is unstoppable. We advise the United States to immediately stop interfering in Chinas internal affairs and Xinjiangs affairs, or it will surely reap its own ill effects.
