Sun Yang spoke and answered the jurys questions at the hearing. Sun Yang recalled some details of the so-called violent Anti Doping incident on September 4, 2018, that is, there was a big problem with the identity of doping testing personnel at that time, and that Sun Yang was unable to provide blood and urine samples to the personnel in question according to the suggestions of relevant leaders and experts from China Swimming Association and Zhejiang Provincial Sports Bureau.
Sun Yang recalled that on September 4, 2018, the testing personnel of IDTM company (the doping testing agency authorized by FINA) came to his home for an agreed off race drug test. However, he found that the testing team composed of three testing personnel did not have complete authorization documents. After reporting this situation to the relevant leaders and experts of China Swimming Association and Zhejiang Provincial Sports Bureau, Sun Yang proposed to the testing team that the testing personnel must have complete authorization documents, and the doping test can be continued on the same day.
At the hearing, Brent Nowitzki, a juror representing the World Anti Doping Agency, tried several times to let Sun Yang admit that he deliberately refused to cooperate with doping testing at that time. Sun Yangs position was clear. He first cooperated very well with the doping testing at that time, but the doping testing was not successful at the end, because the testers could not provide complete authorization documents.
Sun Yang also pointed out that the person in charge of the blood test actually took videos of himself during the test and claimed to be his fans, which is a very unprofessional practice, which also makes it difficult for any athlete to trust such a doping test team. Later, Sun Yang also found that the authorization document of the doping test team is not complete.
As Brent Nowitzki said, as a world-famous athlete, Sun Yang has been tested for doping nearly 200 times before, but there has never been a resistance test. According to a document presented at todays hearing, of the 117 tests Sun Yang has carried out by 2018, 60 have been conducted by IDTM, and Sun Yang has never resisted the tests. Sun Yang said that because the previous doping testing teams were able to provide complete authorization documents and identity certificates, it was regrettable that on September 4, 2018, the identity of the testing personnel was in doubt.
The hearing is still ongoing, after which the World Anti Doping Agency, fina and relevant witnesses will also be questioned.
