Turkey has begun building new military bases in northern Syria, continued to launch attacks in areas such as rasain and taltamir, and occupied a village on the outskirts of rasain, the Syrian state news agency reported Thursday.
It is reported that in the past few hours, Turkey has fired multiple rockets and mortars into the area of taltamir in hassek Province, causing damage to local buildings and loss of peoples property. At the same time, the Turkish military also sent additional troops to the rasain area, occupied a local village, and began to build a new military base in the southern suburb of rasain.
Turkey launched a military operation named fountain of peace against Kurdish forces in northern Syria on 9 last month. According to the memorandum of understanding signed by Turkey and Russia on October 22 on Turkeys temporary ceasefire in northern Syria, Syrian Kurdish armed personnel and their equipment are required to evacuate to the area 30 kilometers south of the Turkish Syrian border within the specified time. Russian Defense Ministry said Thursday that Kurdish forces in Syria had withdrawn from the region before the deadline. Subsequently, Syrian government forces moved into many areas in northern Syria previously controlled by Syrian Kurdish forces. (CCTV reporter Zhu Xuesong)
