It house reported on November 3 that AMDs zen5 architecture is under development, and the upcoming zen3s IPC is 8% higher than zen2s. Now, according to Su Zifeng, AMDs chief executive, it is looking for a more powerful processor architecture than zen3 and others.
At AMDs third quarter earnings conference call, Su said:
Looking forward, we will not rely on process technology as the main driving force. Of course, we believe that process technology is necessary and must be in the leading position in process technology. So now 7Nm is a good process node, and we also get a lot of benefits from it. We will transition to the 5nm node at the right time, and get a huge performance improvement from it. However, we have also done a lot in terms of architecture. I would like to say that AMDs architecture is the main driving force for our product portfolio to move forward.
