Xinhua news agency, Tokyo, Nov. 1 - Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said at the prime ministers residence on Nov. 1 that shoulicheng is the pride of Okinawa people and an extremely important building. The government will spare no effort to support the early reconstruction of shoulicheng.

Japans chief cabinet secretary, Kan Yiwei, also pointed out at the press conference on the same day that shoulicheng is an extremely important symbol of Okinawa, which belongs to the state-owned Okinawa memorial park facilities, and the government will fully support the reconstruction of shoulicheng. It is reported that the Japanese government is discussing the inclusion of the reconstruction funds of shoulicheng in this years supplementary budget.

Yucheng Danny, governor of Okinawa County, said on October 31 that Shouli city must be rebuilt and asked for cooperation from the government.

A fire broke out in the early morning of October 31 in Shouli city. The fire department took 11 hours to put out the fire completely. Seven main buildings in Shouli city were turned into ashes. About 80 people from Japanese police and fire departments entered the scene of the fire in shoulicheng on Monday and began an on-site investigation into the cause of the fire.

Founded more than 500 years ago, Shouli city is a historical symbol of Ryukyu Kingdom, which was destroyed in World War II. In 1992, the main hall of the capital city was rebuilt, and other buildings were gradually completed. In 2000, the site of the capital city of Ryukyu Kingdom, including Shouli City, was listed as a world cultural heritage site by UNESCO.
