WASHINGTON, Oct. 12 (Xinhua News Agency) - U.S. President Trump said on Oct. 11 that he believed that the United States and China were very close to ending the trade war and that the agreement they would reach would benefit both the United States, China and the world.
Trump answered questions from Chinese and foreign journalists at the Oval Office of the White House on the US-China Economic and Trade Consultation that afternoon. I think we are very close to ending the trade war, he said in response to a question from Xinhua News Agency reporters. I think this is a very important stage.
In answering questions, Trump also mentioned that he was glad to see that the first phase of the U.S. -China economic and trade negotiations had yielded substantial results, which were of great benefit to both the United States, China and the world. It is hoped that the two teams will work hard to finalize the first phase of the agreement as soon as possible and continue to promote follow-up consultations.
Trump has repeatedly stressed that the United States and China will reach a great agreement which will go beyond the tariff issue itself.
