Exclusive: Baidu Apollo U.S. team relocated part of its business back home

In recent years, Apollos development momentum in China is strong. Just at the end of September, Baidu Autopilot Robotaxi fleet has started trial operation in Changsha. This week, news came from Hebei Digital Expo. Hebei issued the first batch of 30 licenses for manned test of autonomous driving, all of which were awarded to Apollo. At the end of October, the Robotaxi team will be running in the streets of Cangzhou, Hebei Province.

Li Zhenyu, vice president of Baidu, said in an interview earlier that, compared with other countries, China has made significant technological breakthroughs in the field of automatic driving, with its fast landing speed and the richest landing scenes in the world. At the same time, the advantage of intelligent upgrading of infrastructure supporting automatic driving in China is obvious.

Some people in the industry also told reporters that Top Co. of China and the United States is leading both in the field of automatic driving, but at present the growth path of China and the United States has changed. The United States relies on the first-mover advantage and capital advantage, while Chinas policy matching, test license issuance speed, road test data, richness, infrastructure and other aspects of growth is more obvious.
