Yesterday (October 10) evening, the bridge deck rollover accident occurred on Xigang Road, 312 National Road, Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province. Three cars were pressed under the bridge. The scene search and rescue confirmed that the accident caused 3 deaths and 2 injuries.
Today, the clean-up work near the collapsed viaduct is still under way. From aerial photographs, it can be seen that most of the rollover bridges have been cleaned up after overnight cutting and crushing operations. At present, there are still instruments to dispose of the residual reinforced concrete. Construction personnel said that the bridge cleaning work will be completed during the daytime today.
The expert group of the Ministry of Transport has rushed to the scene to guide accident investigation, and an accident investigation team has been set up in Wuxi. After preliminary analysis, the overturning of the overpass bridge is caused by the overloading of the transport vehicle.
According to iron and steel industry estimates, at the time of the accident, the actual weight of four steel coils carried by the bridge truck was at least 112 tons, far exceeding the limit.
