Dai Yaoting, the sponsor of the illegal Zhanzhong power transmission on Oct. 12, was released on bail by the court, but he continued to incite incitement to violence in Hong Kong. Yesterday (11), he applied to the High Court of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to change the bail conditions of no departure without court approval, saying that he would attend academic seminars in Japan and Korea next month, and his application was eventually rejected.

On October 12, Dai Yaoting claimed that Dai needed to give speeches overseas and make academic exchanges with overseas universities. In response, Vice President of the Appeals Chamber of the High Court of the Special Administrative Region, Mai Jizhi, said that letting a convicted person leave Hong Kong would weaken public confidence in the implementation of judicial justice and refused to change his bail conditions.

Lei Zhimin, a representative of the Hong Kong Department of Justice and senior assistant criminal prosecutor, also objected to Dais application, pointing out that the two seminars mentioned by Dai Yaoting were not of great public interest, and there was no evidence that once he did not attend, it would have a malignant impact on his career. Normally, bailers would not be allowed to leave the jurisdiction of Hong Kong in case of bail waiting for appeal. He absconded from bail.

On 9 April this year, the West Kowloon Magistracy Court of Hong Kong sentenced Dai Yaoting, Chen Jianmin and Zhu Yaoming on six counts of conspiracy to disturb the public and incitement to disturb the public. Nine of them were convicted. On April 24, the Hong Kong court ruled that nine people had been sentenced, including Dai Yaoting, who was sentenced to 16 monthsimprisonment.

After serving his sentence for about four months, he was released on bail pending appeal by the Appeals Chamber on 15 August. As soon as he came out of court, he encouraged the rioters in Hong Kong, claiming that the real golden age will come, and even clamoured that he would participate in fighting for democracy with the spirit of civil resignation. Many politicians criticized Dai Yaoting for advocating the so-called illegality and justice. He should be responsible for Hong Kongs current chaos by misleading young people and spreading hate seeds. It is doubtful that he will continue to incite illegal activities or even Hong Kong independence.

Lu Wenduan, Vice-Chairman of the All-China Federation of Overseas Chinese and Chairman of the Hong Kong General Association of the China Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Unification, directly denounced Dai Yaoting as poisoning young people with the fallacy of illegality and justice. Some people destroyed his future. Dai Yaoting was proud and insulted the education profession. He Qiming, a member of the Legislative Council of the Federation of Trade Unions, believes that Dai Yaoting and other rioters share the same calibre and advocate chaos, and that Hong Kong citizens should be careful not to continue to confuse the situation. According to Legislative Council member Leung Meifen of the League of Representatives, Dai Yaotings remarks are extremely irresponsible. His motive is to disrupt Hong Kong and endanger the country. These people export the elite and use the fools to kill this generation of young people in Hong Kong with their vicious hearts and distortions. Anyone who loves Hong Kong should not add fuel to the fire and push young people into the abyss. Regarding Dai Yaotings remarks, a spokesman for the HKSAR Government had previously made it clear that any proposition concerning Hong Kong independence was incompatible with one country, two systems, the Basic Law and the overall and long-term interests of Hong Kong society, and strongly condemned it.
