On Tuesday, US President Trump signed an executive order threatening to impose very significant sanctions on Turkey in connection with Turkeys attack on Northeastern Syria.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Mnuchin said U.S. President Trump had signed an executive order granting the government the right to impose sanctions on Turkey. Mnuchin said the United States may impose sanctions on the Turkish government and anyone associated with it, but the sanctions have not yet been launched.
In addition, Mnuchin said Trump did not believe that his decision to withdraw U.S. troops from Syria was related to the Turkish attack.
Earlier, many U.S. congressmen condemned Turkeys attack on northern Syria and believed that Trumps withdrawal from northern Syria was a green light for Turkeys action.
