In view of the spread of street violence on campus in Hong Kong, Duan Chongzhi, President of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, invited students and alumni of the University to have an open dialogue on October 10. During the dialogue, a young girl spoke in Mandarin and expressed the hope that local students in Hong Kong would respect their freedom of expression. Meanwhile, she was insulted and scolded by radical students in the audience, who were full of profanity. But she firmly completed her speech. If it werent for my inner strength, I would be terrified to face your choking now. You are always condemning the mistakes of others, but you have never thought that it is you who are destroying the rule of law, freedom and democracy in Hong Kong. In her speech, the girl said, I love China, I love Hong Kong. It is my sincere hope that Hong Kong will regain its proper appearance. Her speech won applause from many mainland students present.
