Overseas Network, September 24, according to Yonhap News Agency, on the afternoon of 23 local time, South Korean President Wen Zaiyin held talks with US President Trump in New York. Both sides reiterated that they would not use force against North Korea.

Reported that the two leaders once again confirmed that if North Korea achieve denuclearization, it will provide a promising future. Trump also reiterated that he would hold consultations on the basis of the agreement reached at the DPRK-US Singapore summit to promote substantial progress in denuclearization of the peninsula.

The two sides also exchanged views and reached consensus on proposals to promote substantive results of the DPRK-US work consultation at an early date.

A new round of defense cost-sharing talks between South Korea and the United States resumed on the 24th. South Korean media said that the United States is expected to open its mouth to the lion. During the talks, Wen introduced the efforts made by the Korean government for the development of the Korea-US alliance, as well as the situation of South Koreas purchasing of US weapons in the past 10 years and its arms purchasing plans for the next three years, and stressed that the two sides should finalize the amount of defense cost-sharing within a fair and reasonable framework.

According to Xinhua News Agency, Trump and Kim Jong-un have met three times so far, in Singapore in June 2018, Hanoi in February and Panmunjom in June this year. The first two meetings were formal summit meetings. Hanois meeting with the DPRK and the United States ended in disagreement and frustration, and the pace of the DPRK-US dialogue slowed down subsequently. When they met in Panmunjom, they agreed to restart working consultations, but so far they have not been achieved.
