BEIJING, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- According to Russian Satellite Network, 23, Russias Ochakovo Food Ingredients Joint Plant has successfully bred artificial meat, which may have appeared at the counter of Russian shops before 2023 at a price of 800 rubles per kilogram (about 90 yuan).
It is reported that the manufacture of artificial meat is based on the treatment of calf muscle tissue. Russian experts gave local anesthesia to calves, obtained small pieces of muscle tissue, and put muscle tissue cells into the culture medium to maintain their growth and division.
For consumers, the price of artificial meat is still on the high side, but experts predict that with the development of technology, the price of artificial meat will drop dramatically in Russia in the future.
If the price of meat growth medium is lowered, the cost will be reduced to 300 rubles per liter, compared with 150 to 300 rubles per liter currently produced in Switzerland. At the same time, the growth rate of cells will be no less than that in Swiss medium.
In this case, the cost of meat itself will begin to decline. It is not excluded that in a few years, artificial meat may compete with traditional tenderloin meat on the shelf.
